The renovation of a neurological practice in Berlin-Charlottenburg called for careful consideration of the profound and sensitive relationship between light and the brain. Unnecessary flickering, light intensity, and the contrast between lit and unlit space were all taken into account in assessing the requirements for a comfortable setting in both the waiting and treatment areas. The design makes use of controlled optics, allowing doctors autonomy over the direction and intensity of the dimmable and flicker-free illumination. Working with standing, suspended and surface-mounted fixtures ensured flexibility and modularity for the client. The result is a tranquil environment suitable for patients suffering from neurological conditions.
