In the installation ALL THAT WE KNOW, Danish artist collective SUPERFLEX presents six gigantic sculptures of common fruits and vegetables, each representing certain health properties, home remedies and other miraculous treatments. Displayed in the courtyard of the Herlev Hospital, these sculptures encourage a dialogue on our ever-changing relationship with nature, its innate healing powers and medicinal properties. To overcome the challenge of illuminating large, intricate sculptures in an outdoor setting, individual, floor-mounted spotlights were specified for each object, employing various optics to enhance volume and texture. Different colors of white were chosen according the flavor and character of the depicted produce, bringing to life the otherwise white sculptures. The precision of projectors and floodlights emphasize the three-dimensionality of the detailed sculptures without distorting the spatial impression with excessive shadowing.
